Lionbridge report praises multilingual support and localized websites
20 February 2013, Geneva. The MSC Cruises website was recently named the best global website in the cruise line category of the Lionbridge report, “The Best Global Websites For Travel and Hospitality 2013.”
In the web globalization and mobile section, the report describes MSC as a language leader, pointing to the company’s support for 14 languages and to its recently localized Chinese website.
MSC Cruises in fact currently hosts a total of 17 different language websites: English (with different adaptations for UK, US, Australian and South African sites), German (with different adaptations for German, Austrian and Swiss sites), French (with different adaptations for French, Swiss, Belgian and Lebanese sites), Italian, Spanish (with different adaptations for Spain, Argentina, Mexico), Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, Dutch, Flemish, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Croatian, Hebrew, Japanese, traditional Chinese and simplified Chinese.
Lionbridge also points out that MSC doesn’t just lead in languages, but that the company relies on a global template that is consistent across the many localized websites and has gone one step further than companies who simply use country codes for their country-specific websites by localizing its name for certain markets.
