He began his career with MSC as a First Officer in 1982, gaining promotion to Captain and his first command with MSC’s Cargo Division in 1988. Having gained extensive experience as a Master of the Group’s cargo ships for 23 seasons, MSC Cruises offered him his first command of a cruise ship, the MSC Monterey, in 2006. Currently in his ninth season with MSC Cruises, Raffaele Russo has captained ships in the Lirica and Musica classes as well as MSC Melody.
